Experiment: Just act dumb

Experiment: Just act dumb

I’m running a new experiment.

For a long time I knew I am great at multiplying large sums of money, that is to say the game is easier after crossing 10M and going upwards. At least it is for me.

But the part before that…well, that’s been the most difficult for me everytime. 0 to 10K then 10 to 30K which yields 420K/yr. But at this range you are very much involved in anything at all levels, from execution, to sales, and what not.

And the other day while walking I realised, the problem is intelligence. A lot of smart people are poor. And a lot of extremely smart people (at a genius level) are poor, or even poorer.

And the reason is, well, being too intelligent.

So I have moved onto this new experiment to test this theory. And the theory behind it is actually really simple.

Just act dumb

This summarises what follows next, but the why and how is important. Read on.

The premise is to act dumb until I reach 10M.

The “acting dumb” I mean specifically you must

  • have a f**k it, let’s do it attitude
  • not care of the results
  • act even if you look dumb (coz you supposedly are now)
  • launch even if you look dumb (again, remember you supposedly are for now)
  • do things without results, even when they fail you still try your best

Acting dumb means you don’t have a secondary circuit on the brain thinking wheather something is ok Acting dumb means you don’t have a tertiary circuit on the brain thinking in terms of shame Acting dumb means you don’t have a quaternary circuit on the brain over analyzing everything Acting dumb means you don’t have a ton more others circuits going round and round.

All your willpower, all your focus is on that single task. If it is promoting it is promoting, if it is marketing it is marketing, if it is selling it is selling. That’s it.

But…it gets the job done. That’s the unique focus.

And if it doesn’t work, you doesn’t spend time analyzing what you did wrong or whether X,Y or Z. Nope.

you moves on, next post, next call, next task.

Again and again.

That’s it. By acting dumb you have a single mind. A single mind on a single objective, applied to the task at hand.

How can we act dumb?

That is the quid of the question. But in essence it is also simple. Don’t over analyze it.

For starters, everytime you have one of those secondary, tertiary, quaternary and so on circuits in the brain activating. Catch yourself.

And stop it.

Move on.

And do what needs doing, 1 thing at a time.

This requires practice. But can be done.

If something you are doing it is taking too long, you are likely over analyzing it.

Be superficial.

Act dumb, and reap rewards.

What else can we do?

Ah! yes!

The good ‘ol not overthinking anything. Or not thinking anything too much.

You are an overthinker, so am I.

And so, we think

and think

and think

and then think again

and think somemore.

But not now, remember we are acting dumb.

Overthinking is the enemy of speed.

Granted we will make mistakes this way.

But by acting dumb what should we do?

Move on.

Accept the mistakes. Reap the rewards of speed.

Who cares?

Not you.

Act dumb, and reap rewards.

Too many ideas

Not your problem for now

1 idea, 1 tangent at a time.

Can’t handle any more than that.

Can’t think on the back of the head all the time.

Can just act on one single thing.

Just acting dumb doesn’t work for everything

This is a behavior that seems best suited for the initial stages of money making from 0 to 5-10M.

Then you can bring the behaviors you suppressed out again. The thinking of things over and over - and analyzing it all. Errors at this level are costly - so thinking well before doing anything works.

And then win big.

But to close that chasm. To bridge that gap, you gotta do what you gotta do.

Showmanship

One last word.

Most showmanship comes from acting dumb.

“got the balls, got the glory” - exemplifies exactly that.

And people love it.

There is a real connection with acting dumb and getting results.

Act dumb.

And if people want circus, give them circus.
